Job Description Monterey County Farm Bureau is seeking an Executive Director (ED) at their Salinas, CA base. The Executive Director is responsible for the daily management of all programs of Monterey County Farm Bureau (MCFB) and its staff. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and will provide leadership to establish and execute the organization’s vision and promote a positive image of Farm Bureau and its policies. The Executive Director must manage staffing, resource allocation, and financial health of the organization, enabling MCFB employees to do their best work by providing strong internal leadership and direction.

The Executive Director is also responsible for building and coordinating membership, managing and guiding the financial standing of the non-profit, maintaining cooperative relations with California Farm Bureau (CFBF), supporting the MCFB Board of Directors, obtaining strong correspondence with public and governmental relations, act as the corporate secretary, and fulfill other such duties as guided by the MCFB Board of Directors. The ED will spend her/his time externally focused on building relationships within the community and the membership and representing Farm Bureau on a political level all while internally managing the business.
Candidate Requirements The role of Executive Director calls for a person who is independent, detail oriented, a self-started leader, flexible, and obtains excellent people skills. Ideal candidate will have the following skills and/or experience:
*At least five years of Executive Director (or comparable) leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing and developing a cross-functional staff with diverse skills and backgrounds; *Demonstrated experience in managing a $1,000,000 budget. Strong fiscal management experience with a wide variety of sources of income; *Experience working with and a strong understanding of the agricultural industry; *Background and experience working with a board of directors in a non profit setting to develop and execute strategic plans and prioritize investments. Experience with board development, recruiting and retention; *A strong track record of working within the community and outside of the community on legislative and political issues; *Demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically, identifying creative approaches to problem solving; *Exceptional communication skills with both internal and external audiences; *A passion for the mission of the Monterey County Farm Bureau; and *A bachelor’s degree in non profit leadership, business, agriculture, public policy or other relevant academic qualifications required.
