Job Title Vineyard Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description On behalf of large family owned vineyard operation located on California's Central Coast, we are now seeking candidates to be considered for the position of Vineyard Maintenance Supervisor. Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Supervisor assists with maintenance and repair of all equipment assigned to Central Coast area. This position plans and assigns work to employees, while reviewing employee work performance and results. This is a direct hire position, which includes a competitive salary and full benefits package, including a 401(k).

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to the following:
* Supervise shift/ team of maintenance technicians, spending approximately 70% of time on floor or in the field; assisting, monitoring, coaching, and following up on completed work to ensure it has been performed at a high standard
* Provide hands-on support, assign daily tasks and communicate changes to the team; assign and monitor the work order system utilizing MP2, tracking work orders, and compiling reports for management
* Plan and schedule maintenance, including scheduling of appropriate personnel, maintaining project budget, ensuring access to machine manuals, ensuring availability of necessary parts, and working with the production and operation teams to schedule project completion
* Actively train technicians in duties including but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines, and ensuring completed work is entered into CMMS (computer maintenance management system)
* Maintain open lines of communication with manager on performance issues, procedures, and policies to insure overall consistency; interacts with other supervisors and team members/stakeholders to insure maximum utilization of resources
* Lead by example in following all safety rules and practices; ensure safe work environment and use of appropriate protective gear, collaborate with other stakeholders in relation to tools/equipment, training, work environment, identifying issues or other related safety items, as well as being accountable for ensuring maintenance personnel follow the same safety rules and practices
* Participate in continuous improvement opportunities and initiatives within and beyond the maintenance function by measuring activities, entering data, and ensuring the accuracy of the data

Functional Responsibility:
* Provide leadership and support by coaching, guiding, and leading by example

* Train employees and set standards for work performance

* Manage employee attendance and approve/monitor overtime overtime to ensure compliance with company standards
* Communicate and support company policies and decisions in a positive manner
* Address employee issues, concerns, and complaints in a confidential and unbiased manner
* Provide employees with a safe, comfortable, and rewarding work environment

Additional Duties:
* Summarize daily reports into monthly data
* Prepare and lead maintenance priority meetings, safety and production leadership teams, environmental health & safety initiatives including but not limited to: air permitting, storm water compliance, HAZMAT, waste water compliance, roof maintenance, DOT inspections, compressed air management, fire & safety system inspections, contractor training, employee training, electrical and hot work
* Inspect vehicles, equipment, buildings and other structures to determine functionality and detect malfunctions and needed repair, making recommendations using a pre‐established check sheet
* Perform minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to: replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools
* Supervise contractors and other departments activities such as painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.), various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to maintain a safe, comfortable working environment
* Assist in the preparation and maintenance of department budget
Candidate Requirements Ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and/or education. A relevant combination of same will be considered:

Education and Experience:
* AA/AS degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, or AG mechanics; basic refrigeration and electrical a plus
* At least 5-7 years mechanical experience as Ag mechanic / Industrial Maintenance technician
* 2-3 years supervisory experience
* Requires intermediate set of tools to perform service and repair functions
* Valid driver license and vehicle required with an acceptable driving record

Knowledge and Ability:
* Knowledge of principles of supervision: performance management, staff counseling, motivation employee training, document preparation, recommendation and implementation of disciplinary measure
* Knowledge of principles and techniques of repair and maintenance of gas, diesel, alternative fuel, heavy and light vehicles, construction, and special equipment.
* Knowledge of computers and software platforms; CMMS, Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.
* Ability to analyze test results, machine error messages, blueprints, repair manuals, parts catalogs, and information obtained from operators in order to understand, diagnose and correct equipment problems
* Strong troubleshooting and predictive maintenance skills
* Ability to determine specifications associated with equipment parts, installation, repair and replacement
* Ability to specify bearings, belts, chains, gears, coupling, drives, and select and apply gaskets, seals, sealants, lubrications and oils
* Ability to diagnose problems and determine best method of correction while balancing cost, timeliness, and quality

Working Environment:
* Constant exposure to the elements and temperature variation working indoors, outdoors and at heights up to 45 feet.
* Exposure to standard maintenance materials: batteries, lubricating fluids, paints, solvents, etc.
* This position is on a rotating shift schedule
* Overtime as needed to support Company
