Job Description On behalf of our client, a family-owned and operated produce company that uses sustainable agricultural practices to produce safe, high quality produce. This dynamic employer believes in minimizing the environmental impact on the land so that its employees and customers can maintain a higher quality of life.

SUMMARY: Oversees lot cost accounting for all companies and consolidate into single reports. An understanding of farming and costs related to crops and harvesting is necessary. Knowledge of cash and accrual accounting, as well as direct and indirect costing is also needed to perform this job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Cost Accounting: Review, invoice and enter monthly overheads. Review, invoice and enter monthly "bares". Audit crop specific cost centers and generate crop cost reports. Generate monthly/weekly management overhead & cost reports. Annual "Crop by company/Ranch/Overhead Area" spreadsheet.
? Oversee Grower Payments, changing cost centers after final planting.
? Inter-company fertilizer and chemical billings monthly and oversight for fertilizer and chemical application costing.
? Balance seed, fertilizer and chemical inventory to AgStar financial records.
? Maintain monthly harvest cost information.
? Verify income by commodity monthly. ? Maintain commodities list, Ranch and lot lists for AgStar cost codes.
? Verify "bare" lot costing
? Analyze costs per pound or per acre and provide management profit outlook for contract negotiations.
? Oversee and report rotational costing for soil additives and seed.
? Construct data accumulation system for a cost accounting system.
? Create and review controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems.
? Accumulate and apply overhead cost as required by GAAP.
? Prepare report on margins by product and by customer
? Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances.
Candidate Requirements Ideal candidate will have the ability to perform the above listed essential duties as well as have the following education and experience (a combination of qualifications may be considered):

? Three plus years of accounting/finance experience
? Five plus years progressive grower cost accounting experience
? BA/BS in accounting or related subject
? Possess excellent analysis skills and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.
? Previous experience in farming operation highly desirable
? Demonstrated high level of proficiency with computer software necessary to perform duties (i.e. Excel, Word, Access, and crop accounting software. Agstar experience desirable.)
? Strong documentation and organizational skills
