Job Description On behalf of leading grower/shipper/packer and international distributor headquartered in Salinas, CA, we are seeking candidates for the position of Manager, Grower Accounting.

Position Summary - Responsible for managing the accounting functions within the Production, Harvesting and Cooling/Shipping Departments under supervision from the General Manager and Partners. Day to day activities require the use of initiative and judgment, particularly when prioritizing work or working with multiple deadlines. This opportunity is a full-time position (direct hire) offering a very competitive compensation package.

Responsibilities to include (but are not limited to) the following:
-Supervision of staff accountant(s) and/or accounting clerk(s) assigned to Operations & Grower Accounting
-Manage all aspects of the monthly general ledger closings related to inventory, commodity cost allocations, growing cost accruals, and indirect allocations
? -Manage the maintenance of inventory for seed, carton and packing supplies, fertilizer and chemicals
-Maintain all the grower payable rates
-Responsible for monthly close and reconciliation of growing costs and grower payables
-Manage the accounting of all grower investment and grower deal activities
-Ensure all plantings are set up in the system accurately and research issues as needed
-Maintain accurate and timely records of all grower payable/grower investment activities
-Oversee the management systems supporting Grower Accounting including:
-Ensuring accurate annual reconciliation and analysis of grower deals
-Ensuring prompt payment of contract payments
-Accurate calculation of net returns, etc. with proper documentation
-Maintenance of grower contract management system
-Develop and maintain new item numbers
-Administrative support for Harvesting and Production Departments
-Oversee the coding and input for inventory invoices into the A/P module.
-Analysis of material efficiencies, inventory control and purchasing and further creating and maintaining procedural documentation and work instructions
-Responsible for maintenance of the costing system and continued development of the item costing system
-Analysis of commodity financial reporting and being prepared to support any material variations
responsible for preparing and maintaining the annual calculation of the indirect allocations for the Harvesting, Production and Cooling/Shipping Departments
-Develop and maintain rigorous documentation standards to ensure ongoing knowledge and transfer of knowledge of all business critical operations applications and processes
-Maintaining an open flow of related communication with both operations and accounting and for keeping owners and managers abreast of all operations accounting functions
-Participate in special projects as needed
Candidate Requirements Idea candidate will have the following qualifications and knowledge (a combination of same may be considered):

-Good general accounting practices
-Strong knowledge of inventory and cost accounting practices
-Auditing practices
-FAMOUS software knowledge a plus. Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
-Practical experience with a strong knowledge of inventory and cost accounting practices
-Excellent customer service skills on the phone and in person
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual/Biliterate (English/Spanish) preferred.
-Strong organizational skills
-Team player who works well with a variety of people with a minimum of supervision
-Solid problem solving skills with a methodical approach
-Thrive in a fast paced environment and handle pressure while managing multiple tasks
-Valid drivers license and clean record
-Bachelor?s degree in Accounting preferred
